Accessibility Statement

informed.now is committed to being usable by everyone, including people with disabilities. We built a news service that arrives as a plain text message because plain text is the most accessible format there is: it works with every screen reader, every font size, every contrast setting, and every phone, with no app to install and nothing to scroll. That same commitment applies to this website. We design and test it to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, the standard referenced by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, and we treat accessibility as part of the product, not a checkbox. If anything here doesn't work for you, tell us and we'll fix it.

Our Standard

We aim to conform to WCAG 2.2 Level AA across informed.now, including this website, the daily text, and our signup and account flows. Where we fall short, we say so below and we work to close the gap. We also follow the ADA and Section 508 as they apply to a US company serving the public online.

What Already Works

Every page is built with proper headings, landmarks, and link text so screen readers can navigate it. Everything can be reached and operated with a keyboard alone. Text and background colors meet the AA contrast ratio in both light and dark mode. Text resizes to at least 200% without loss of content. Images that carry meaning have text alternatives. Nothing auto-plays, nothing flashes, and animations respect your reduced motion setting. Forms have visible labels and clear error messages. We write in plain language and keep pages short.

The Daily Text

Our product is a text message, so it inherits the accessibility of your phone. It reads aloud with VoiceOver and TalkBack, scales with your system text size, needs no vision to skim, and never depends on color, images, or layout to make sense. Every story links to its source in the same message. If you need the briefing in a different format, or at a different time, reply to any text and we'll work it out with you.

Known Limitations

Some content on the website comes from third parties we don't control, including embedded videos, social media posts, reader reviews, and payment pages, and their accessibility may vary. Some older blog images may have incomplete text alternatives. We review these regularly and fix what we can. If any of them blocks you, contact us and we'll provide the information another way.

Compatibility

informed.now is designed to work with the current and previous major versions of Safari, Chrome, Firefox, and Edge, and with screen readers including VoiceOver, TalkBack, NVDA, and JAWS. It is built with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and WAI-ARIA, and it uses no technology that requires a plugin.

How We Check

Accessibility is part of every release. We test pages with automated tools such as Lighthouse and axe, check them by hand with a keyboard and a screen reader, and review contrast and motion in both light and dark mode. We reassess this statement at least once a year and whenever we change the website in a significant way.

Tell Us What Isn't Working

If you find a barrier anywhere on informed.now, please tell us. Text us at 844-406-INFO (4636), or use the contact form on our website, and tell us the page or message, what you were trying to do, and the assistive technology you use. We reply within five business days and treat every accessibility report as a priority fix. We would rather hear about a problem than have you work around it.
